AMD vows ‘freedom’ for new Radeon brands amidst GeForce Partner Program controversy - farriswhinted

A little more than a month ago, HardOCP's Kyle Bennett rumored that an initiative called the GeForce Partner Program offered artwork card makers (such atomic number 3 Asus and MSI) assorted incentives to trammel the use up of their top play brands to Nvidia hardware. Spell Nvidia hasn't commented on the far side a blog post light on details, a new card of graphics card game by Asus and commentary from AMD suggests HardOCP's report might be true.

Asus officially revealed the Radeon-exclusive "Arez" graphics card batting order on Tuesday later weeks of leaks and whispers. They all look awful similar to the Radeon graphics cards that Asus has offered since the RX 500 and RX Vega series launched, simply with one key item missing: Patc some of the models still sport Strix coolers, none of the Arez lineup carries the "Republic of Gamers" brand that Asus has fagged long time edifice. (Previously released Radeon cards yet carry the ROG brand, however.)

In an e-mail sent to PCWorld, AMD aforesaid this won't be an outlier.

"Today, Asus announced its AREZ-branded AMD Radeon RX graphics card game and over the orgasm weeks, you can gestate to see more add-in board partners launch new brands carrying the AMD Radeon name… Through AMD's add-in-dining table partners that carry forward the AMD Radeon RX brand, the keep company is continued to push the industry openly, transparently and without restrictions so that gamers take in access to the best immersive technologies, APIs and experiences."

AMD never mentions the GeForce Partner Program outright, simply with the heavy messaging around transparency and openness, the statement seems like a direct shot at Nvidia.

This Asus Arez RX 570 tranquil uses the Strix brand and cooler.

The message wasn't sent to journalists alone, either. Radeon frailty president and general handler Scott Herkelman publicised a post on Radeon.com that dragged AMD's "Freedom of Choice" pledge into the state-supported spotlight. Herkelman says the following are "The key values that brands sporting AMD Radeon products will offer":

  • A dedication to open founding
  • A commitment to true transparency through and through diligence standards
  • Factual partnerships with real consistency
  • Expanding the PC gaming ecosystem

Advance reporting by HardOCP suggests that big-name PC makers like Dell and HP aren't aligning their gaming brands with Nvidia, though we haven't been able to corroborate those details. PCWorld's industry sources have remained unhearable when asked about the GeForce Partner Program.

Keep an eye on the select of these raw Radeon-exclusive cards as they're announced. If artwork identity card makers design AMD ironware similarly to ironware carrying Nvidia-exclusive brands—which certainly seems to be the case with the Asus Arez lineup—then the firebrand name on the box shouldn't weigh in price of public presentation. Maintaining separate brands for Radeon and GeForce hardware makes things somewhat more confusing for consumers just it isn't inaudible-of either: Asus maintains inside Maximus and Crosshair brands for motherboards from Intel and AMD, respectively.
